  • DMT 360

We connect a large number of digital signs back to a content delivery platform via our core network.

Digital Media Technologies are the preferred managed service provider to a growing number of digital signage businesses, including Ocean Media Group, Ocean Outdoor and Signature Outdoor.

"Our business was struggling to find a network partner we could entrust with the infrastructure side of our solutions. next connex have adapted to our changing needs and continually delivered to a high standard".

Project Background for DMT 360

Digital Media Technologies were asked to undertake the installation of a large number of new digital signs for their clients. Rather than undertake the connectivity potion of the project themselves they looked to an infrastructure partner who could design, implement and manage the physical elements of the digital signage service solution they were presenting to their clients.

Notable projects on which DMT 360 rely on next connex to connect marquee digital signage include Westfield shopping Centre Stratford, Liverpool Printworks, the three ‘Eye’ screens at the entrances to the revitalised £750million Birmingham New Street station, as well as the 13 pedestrian level screens that make up the Signature Outdoor’s ‘The Loop Birmingham’.

next connex survey and complete a full report on the suitability and availability of connectivity in the proposed site areas, presenting their findings back to DMT.

We also arrange permissions, organise wayleaves and manage contractors to ensure that installations run smoothly and without costly delays.

The next connex core network is inherently diverse, with multiple routing options available if any congestion or fault were to occur. This ensures that there is no negative effect on the delivery of content to the signs..

System Details

All of the individual site connections are linked independently back to the next connex core network. Any fault with a single site will never affect any others.

Birmingham New Street’s 3 ‘Eye’ screens are connected by a 200mb connection which terminates in the station’s comms room, with the bandwidth split between them internally, as well as being used to power a public WiFi network in and around the station.

Each of the Birmingham Loop’s 13 screens have 200mb connections (100mb per side), as they are 4K quality.
Westfield’s large flagship screen has a 200mb connection serving it, and the Liverpool Printworks screen has 100mb.
Most of these connections are able to be upgraded to higher bandwidths in the future with minimal disruption or delay.
